In 1981, my wife Violet and I moved to Alaska. After searching the west coast for a decent place to raise children we finally found Alaska, a beautiful place to call home.
We have come to love this country, every inch the good and the bad. It was hard to get used to just two seasons, summer and winter, with a quick change in between.
I worked on the North road at the General Electric turbine shop as a machinist, until they closed the turbine division. Then I worked for GLM in Kenai, then Seward Ship Chandlery, and retired in 1991. I feel it’s important to learn about others and listen to their views. After retiring I earned 78 credits at Kenai Peninsula College. Majors: History, government, computers, accounting, Math, Supervision.
