Should the state construct a bridge to Funny River?

In spite of previous defeats, this highly contentious issue repeatedly comes up.

The state has no desire to build or pay for this bridge, and therefore has never submitted it as a proposal.

On Tuesday, we will have the opportunity to tell the borough we oppose the construction of the Funny River bridge due to its high cost — probably in excess of $25 million or more — negative impact on the Kenai River salmon spawning areas and other wildlife, destruction of wetlands and one that, as currently planned, does little to provide a suitable safety route for many in the Funny River area.

The borough doesn’t have the money, and in tough economic times like we are experiencing now, there is no way we should support millions of our tax dollars for an expensive and controversial bridge.

Please oppose both parts of Proposition 3.
