KETCHIKAN (AP) -- A Ketchikan police officer has pleaded innocent to charges of criminal trespass and assault.

Sgt. Lance Waldren entered his pleas Thursday. He is accused of entering a home where he thought his 13-year-old daughter was staying and striking a 15-year-old boy there.

Waldren was off-duty when the incident occurred July 18. He was charged with the two misdemeanors Aug. 27 following a state investigation into the matter. Following the charges, Waldren was put on paid administrative leave.

Ketchikan Police Chief Grant Sirevog said the department would conduct an internal investigation after the criminal case concludes.
