FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A 14-year-old Fairbanks boy died Sunday when he was crushed by a beam at a North Pole construction site.
North Pole Police Officer Steve Dutra said the boy was working with his father when the accident occurred at about 5:45 p.m.
The boy and his father were working with others to lift a house so a new foundation could be built beneath it.
Dutra said the boy was crushed when a beam fell on him. The boy wasn't under the beam when emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
The boy, whose name was not released, suffered severe internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
