In light of the recent tragedies in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, 15 Kenai students, the majority from Kenai Middle School, held a bake sale recently to benefit the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The community support was awesome, and this letter is dedicated to them all.
First, thank you to the Peninsula Clarion and Jenny Neyman for the wonderful article which was printed on last Sunday's front page. Several people commented that they had come back out specifically because they had read about the effort.
Second, thank you to Big K for the space to display the baked goods and to the great staff. Thanks to the Kenai Alternative High School for the loan of tables and to Dennis Dunn for his support. Thanks to Toni Steward for composing a great email for the school district system that generated so much support!
Next, thank you to the children and their incredible parents who baked (and baked!) and worked so hard for the needy people of New
York. They are Ronni Sounart, Annie Tremaine, Mandy Anderson, Copper Fuller, Kyla Steward, Megan Gabriel, Jamie Dunn, McKenna Dunn, Juliana John, Rebecca Gilman, Adrianna Garcia, Dylan Wannamaker, Joy Wannamaker, Jean Gdula, and Reed Ehrhardt. You are amazing!
And lastly, thank you to our wonderful community. The level of support was incredible; the number of donations was far beyond our expectations, and the feedback from everyone was so positive!
