Alaska air carriers endorse Murkowski

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The Alaska Air Carriers Association wants Sen. Frank Murkowski to be the next governor.

The group said it is endorsing Murkowski because he's the candidate who can best maintain the state's aviation infrastructure.

Murkowski understands the needs of the state's air carriers, according to Karen Casanovas, the association's executive director. She said the group has had a long, beneficial relationship with Murkowski.

The Alaska Air Carriers Association represents 86 aviation-related business, including air taxis, helicopter companies and fly-in lodge operators.
