Several weeks ago, while taking some roses to a grave in the Russian Orthodox Cemetery, my neighbor (who had never been there) and I were taken aback by the deplorable condition it was in. The grounds are so overgrown it's almost impossible to walk into the cemetery or even find graves.
I do not know whether the Russian Orthodox Church is the actual entity that is responsible for the upkeep of this cemetery. But I would venture to guess that every living Kenaitze in this area has at least one and probably a number of departed loved ones buried there.
After seeing a request for elder snow removal quotes in the Clarion placed by the Kenaitzes, I am wondering if they might find funding in the spring to clean and maintain a place as sacred as this cemetery.
It would be a wonderful project.
