Community Schools

The following classes will begin this week at Soldotna Community Schools:

Beginning mushrooming

Steve Scott will instruct a nontechnical class for teens and adults to help the amateur mushroom hunter acquire the skills to identify fungal finds with only macroscopic features. Class is held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 18. The cost is $15 per student. Study materials will be provided. For location of class, call 262-6768.

Digestive grossology

Katie Benner will lead a hands-on and visual learning experience for children ages 6 to 9 on anatomy and physiology and a tour of the digestive system from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in room 9 at Soldotna Middle School.

The cost is $20 per student.

Toddler gym time

This ongoing free activity is for parents with toddlers ages 1to 3.

Attendees are asked to bring gym toys to share and meets at 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 18 in the multipurpose room at Soldotna Middle School.

Preschool playtime

This ongoing free activity is for parents with toddlers ages 3 to 6. Attendees are asked to bring gym toys to share and meet at 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 18 in the multipurpose room at Soldotna Middle School.

Hall walking

The Soldotna Middle School is open to teens and adults for hall walking from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through Dec. 20.

The cost is $25 for the fall session.

Competitive volleyball

Teens and adults are welcome to participate in competitive volleyball from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Dec. 17 in the gym at Soldotna Middle School (no games today, Nov. 5 and Dec. 3.).

The cost is $5 per night.
