Melvin, McMinn marry in Kenai
Chelsey Melvin of Kenai and Phillip McMinn of Linden, Tenn., were married in a morning ceremony Saturday, July 2, 2005, in the gazebo at Leif Hansen Memorial Park in Kenai. Jerry McMinn, father of the groom, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mickey and Debbie Landenglos of Kenai. She graduated with honors from Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland as a certified welder. She is in the Army Reserves. She wore a white, off-the-shoulder, beaded gown and carried a bouquet of white, pink and lavender roses.
The groom is the son of Jerry and Viki McMinn of Linden. He is a tank deterrent specialist in the Army.
Tosha Melvin was the maid of honor. The bridesmaid was Amy Turner. They wore lavender gowns and carried white roses.
Tieran Evans was the flower girl and Michael Turner was the ring bearer.
Rick Jackson, the groom's uncle, was the best man.
Out-of-town guests were Ricky and Barbara Jackson of Tennessee.
The couple's special song was "Forever and Ever," the same song the bride's parents used 17 years ago.
A reception was held at the bride's parents' house. They had a heart-shaped, two-tiered, pink and white cake with fresh cut flowers throughout.
The couple is in the military and plans to travel wherever that takes them.
Schaafsma, Reynoso plan June wedding
Janna Schaafsma of Soldotna and Mark Rey-noso of Oak Harbor, Wash., have announced their plans to marry in June in Seattle.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mark and Sue Schaafsma of Soldotna. She graduated from Soldotna High School and plans to graduate from Seattle Pacific University in June with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
The future groom is the son of Raul and Mary Reynoso of Oak Harbor. He graduated from Seattle Pacific University in June with a bachelor's degree in Christian theology. He is studying for his master's degree at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Mich.
