Public health nurse to visit small communities

The public health nurse will be at the Nanwalek Clinic at 9 a.m. today. The nurse will be at the Port Graham Clinic at 9 a.m. Oct.12, the Nikolaevsk School from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 12, and the Seldovia Headstart Building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20. For more information, call (800) 770-8857.

League president to address chamber

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon today at noon at the Riverside House. Diana McKenney, president of the Alaska League of Women Voters, will be speaking. For more information, call 262-9814.

Workshop on rockets offered

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska offers a science workshop today from 3 to 5 p.m. The topic will be rockets and the workshop is open to students in grades 3 through 6. Registration is required; cost is $15 per student. The next session will be Oct. 17 and is open to students in grades 2 through 4. The topic will be communications. Basketball officials association to meet tonight

The Kenai Peninsula Basketball Officials Association will meet at 6 tonight at the Kenai Merit Inn. Anyone interested in officiating basketball this season is invited. The group is recruiting new officials.

New president to address alliance

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill will meet at 7 tonight Bridges in Soldotna. The group will present new president, Esther Hopkins. For more information, call 283-3138.

Biologist to discuss bear hunting

Alaska Department of Fish and Game biologist Ted Spraker will conduct a brown bear clinic at 7 tonight at John's Bow Shop. He will discuss bear hunting on the Kenai Peninsula, bear safety tips, management issues and judging in the field. The public is welcome.
