Beekeepers a buzzin'

Kenai pool begins fall schedule

The Kenai Central High School fall pool schedule is as follows: morning lap swim from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday; water aerobics from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; evening lap swim from 6 to 7 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and open swim from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Dog classes available

Peninsula Dog Obedience Group on Kalifornsky Beach Road is holding classes in clicker training, rally, conformation, levels obedience, flyball, puppy kindergarten, agility and Agility4Fun — geared to get people and their dogs working on low height and impact agility equipment.

Depression screening offered

Central Peninsula General Hospital and 10 other agencies will provide free depression screenings, education and referrals Thursday at Cottonwood Health Center and Kenai Peninsula College. Mental health professionals will be available to screen and make referrals. For more information, call Christy Walker at 714-4521.

Prescription drug plan to be discussed

The Kenai Senior Citizens Center will sponsor a discussion on the new Medicare Prescription Drug Plan at 10 a.m. Thursday. For more information, call Kathy Romain at 283-4156.

Immunization clinic canceled

The regular Kenai Public Health Center immunization clinic scheduled at Cottonwood Health Clinic in Soldotna for Thursday has been canceled.

A walk-in immunization clinic will be held at the Kenai Public Health Center in Kenai at 630 Barnacle Way, Suite A, the same day from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The regular clinic schedule will be in effect after that date. For more information, call Marty at 335-3400.

CIRCAC to meet

Hospice training announced

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will offer volunteer training in October. Training will be from held from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 17, 18, 20, 24 and 25 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Space is limited. It is open to the public. To preregister, call 262-0453.

Homer health fair slated

Kachemak Bay Rotary Club and South Peninsula Hospital will host its annual health fair Nov. 12 at Homer High School. A letter of application is being mailed to past vendors. Community members interested in being vendors may call Will Files at (907) 235-2443 or Maynard Gross at (907) 235-7330.
