Friends and family of Gerald "Sib" Sibley have added $10,000 to the $1,000 Crime Stoppers reward being offered for information leading to the arrest of suspects in Sibley's murder.

People with information about the felony crime are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 283-TIPS or 800-478-HALT. Calls may be made anonymously.

Sibley, a 61-year-old aircraft mechanic, was found shot to death Jan. 4, in an aircraft hangar at Mile 18 of Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski. He worked and lived in the hangar.

A five-drawer Craftsman tool chest and assorted Snap-On tools were taken from the hangar and Alaska State Troopers suspect Sibley was killed during a burglary.

After serving 12 years in the U.S. Air Force, Sibley came to Alaska in 1970 to pursue a career as an aircraft mechanic. He owned a series of aircraft repair shops on the Kenai Peninsula.
