The following is a list of Soldotna Community Schools classes and activities beginning this week. It is printed as a reminder to preregistered participants. For more information, call 262-6768.

Beginning Pottery Throwing

Charlie LaForge, studio potter will offer this class, so teens and adults can explore the process of clay on the potter's wheel and the fundamentals and elements of throwing clay. The class begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Soldotna High School ceramic studio. This class is not recommended for those with back or wrist problems. The class will run for eight weeks and participants are asked to wear old clothing. Class size is a maximum of a eight persons. Cost is $150.

Basic Woodworking

Louise Heite will offer this class as an introduction on the use of power tools and simple wood working, including basic finishing techniques. Participants will make a project of their choice. The class will run for eight weeks beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Soldotna Middle School wood shop. High school students through adults are eligible to attend. A minimum of six and a maximum of 12 students is required for this class. Cost is $65, plus materials.
