Parenting seminar offered

The Soldotna Church of Christ will host a parenting seminar -- No Drums, No Bugles: The Making of a Christian Family -- this weekend.

Stan and Sheila Butt of Columbia, Tenn., will bring lessons designed to help build "Christ-esteem" into families. He has been a minister for 20 years, she is the author of "No Greater Joy."

Saturday's session is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with lunch following. On Sunday, it runs from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 262-9051.

Missionary to speak in Kenai

Jewish missionary Douglas Carmel of the Rock of Israel Ministries will speak at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Kenai Sunday during the worship service.

Carmel was raised in a traditional Jewish home in New York and accepted Jesus as the Messiah at age 21. After attempts to persuade him to renounce his newfound faith, his family rejected his belief and asked him to move from their home. Today, Carmel visits congregations and speaks about the need for Jewish evangelism.

Walleyball games planned for youth

Christ Lutheran Church will hold walleyball games for junior and senior high school students at the Kenai Recreation Center from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call Gwen Johnson at 283-2799.

Author to speak in Soldotna

Soldotna First Assembly of God is joining with College Heights Baptist Church to host an evening with Chris Adams.

Adams is an author and women's enrichment ministry specialist for LifeWay Christian Resources. Women of all fellowships and denominations are encouraged to attend at 6 p.m. Sunday at College Heights Baptist Church at 34375 Kalifornsky Beach Road. "Enriching Your Walk" will be an evening of spiritual enrichment. Fellowship and light refreshments will follow the service.

Catholic faith classes to start Tuesday

Classes for anyone interested in learning about the Catholic faith will begin Tuesday and be held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. through Jan. 15 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 222 W. Redoubt Ave. in Soldotna. Classes meet in the community room in the back of the church.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, the process by which adult converts are received into full communion with the Catholic Church, is an updated version of the way the early Christians became followers of Jesus Christ.

Mallette to speak at Aglow meeting

Dawn Mallette, vice president of Kenai Aglow, will be the guest speaker at the Oct. 15 meeting of the group. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at The Salvation Army Chapel , 201 N. Forest Drive in Kenai.

Women's conference planned

Women of the Peninsula, a two-day conference presented by the Women of Impact Ministries, will be held Oct. 19 and 20 at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Guest speakers will be Joanne Meckstroth and Miriam Humphries. Other activities include inspirational music, biblical teachings, friendship building and personal prayer.

Fees are $25 before Saturday, plus $11 for lunch. The cost to register after Saturday is $35, plus lunch. For more information, call Trudy Andree at 262-6614.
