PTA training offers valuable opportunities

Posted: Wednesday, October 05, 2005

The Alaska PTA Fall Leadership Training in Soldotna on Sept. 15 was a success thanks to presentations by Alaska PTA Immediate Past President Suellen Appellof and the Peninsula PTAs that were able to send representatives.

Peninsula PTAs are doing great things for kids and are appreciated across the district. We value the time our leaders took out of their busy days to attend PTA training and Superintendent Donna Peterson's site council and parent group meeting that followed.

We also sincerely thank the Soldotna Sports Center staff for all its assistance while using their facility and the Soldotna Fred Meyer for our continental breakfast and beverages. We couldn't have done it without all of you.

We look forward to meeting again Jan. 24. We'll start the day with PTA Parent Involvement Training followed by Donna's legislative overview, district updates, legislative priorities, budget, district initiatives and sharing-general questions.

We applaud Donna for her outreach bringing parent groups together on a regular basis. These are truly valuable opportunities to learn and share.

Lynn Hohl, Vice president, Alaska PTA Region V, Seward
