Merit Inn will be missed

The Performing Arts Society (PAS) is a central Kenai Peninsula organization dedicated to sponsoring concerts, classes and school performances of classical and jazz music.

Without the help of many of our local businesses and community members, the PAS would be unable to offer these programs at an affordable price as we have done for the last six years.

Today we would like to express our particular appreciation for Joe Arness and the Kenai Merit Inn. Since our inception in 1999, Mr. Arness has supported our efforts both financially and through in-kind donations of performing space for our jazz cabarets and with rooms for our visiting artists.

These accommodations have always been given graciously and without expectation of recognition. He was continually present in the background to ensure that events went smoothly.

Mr. Arness has a long history of supporting the performing arts. Dinner theatre, cabarets and concerts have all been produced on his premises going back to the 1970s. Before the auditoriums were built, the Merit Inn frequently provided playing space to events of all kinds.

We thank you, Mr. Arness, for your years of support. We will definitely miss the Kenai Merit Inn in many ways.

Jean Brockel, President, Performing Arts Society, Kenai
