Zero tolerance is best policy

Letter to the Editor

Posted: Friday, October 05, 2007

An excerpt from a recent letter to the editor (Clarion, Sept. 14), Let representatives do their job of looking out for Alaskans, said, "Alaskans, get out your ledger books.

On the left, list the purported ethics violations that Sens. Ted Stevens, Lisa Murkowski and Rep. Don Young are being accused of. On the right side, list all the good things they have done for this state and its people. You will run out of paper for this category."

This letter makes me wonder: Is it OK to be corrupt and abusive toward policies as long as you do more "good" things than "bad"? I am glad this reader is not my representative. Zero corruption is the only acceptable amount.
