Steak dinner, auction fundraiser planned

A steak dinner and Chinese auction fundraiser will be held for Landon Rogers at 6 p.m. today at the American Legion Hall at 902 Cook St. The auction will begin at 7 p.m. The price of admission is $15 per person. Live music also is planned.

Landon, 4, is terminally ill with non-hodgkin's lymphoma.

Election results to be discussed

The First Friday Dialogue will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna. The topic will be "The Oct. 2 Election Results: What do you think?" A potluck dinner will precede the meeting at 6:30 p.m. It is open to the public.

The Roundtable Center for Mediation and Community Dialogue sponsors monthly First Friday Dialogues to bring people in the community together in safe forums for conversation and learning.

Quilt guild to gather

The Kenai Peninsula Quilt Guild will host its semi-annual meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. A business meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and a potluck will begin at noon. A techniques class will follow the potluck.

Attendees will have first priority for the spring retreat in Homer. Community members interested in fiber arts, sewing or quilting are invited to join the guild.

Hockey registration Saturday

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association will hold registration from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center.

A free two-hour KPHA open skate will be held from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. Youth ages 4 to 18 may join. For more information, call 283-5742.

Players also may register at the Lucky Puck in Old Town Kenai during business hours.

PenDOG classes to start

Peninsula Dog Obedience Group is getting ready to start fall classes in Soldotna. Classes include beginning agility and beginning flyball, which will start Oct. 20, as well as self-paced obedience and puppy kindergarten.
