Pamper Me Pink mammography party set

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Central Peninsula Hospital will host it's second annual "Pamper Me Pink" event Oct. 15 at the Women's Imaging Center from 5 to 8 p.m. No appointments are necessary, however, a physician's order and standard fees apply. The evening will include mammograms, massage, manicures, munchies, mocktails, music, moral support and more.

The event is sponsored by Central Peninsula Hospital and the Pink Ribbon Rally.

Hospice training slated

Hospice of the Central Peninsula Volunteer training will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on Oct. 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, and 30 from 5 to 9 p.m. except Saturday will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

CPR classes available

CPR Safety Services in conjunction with The Salvation Army of Kenai will host a health fair Nov. 27 offering CPR and first aid certification. Classes offered will be as follows: CPR certification for $40; CPR/AED certification for $45; CPR/AED and first aid certification for $55; eight-hour CPR/FirstAid U.S. Coast Guard approved for $75; American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers for $60; and American Heart Association Blood Borne Pathogens for $20.

Class sizes are limited. To register for classes, visit http://miraclecpr.com/alaska.html . A percentage of proceeds will benefit the Christmas effort for The Kenai Salvation Army. Advance registration is required by Nov. 20 for most classes. The U.S. Coast Guard approved course requires 21 days advance registration.

KPC Financial Aid Night slated

Kenai Peninsula College's financial aid office and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District counselors will co-host the fourth annual Financial Aid Night at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Soldotna Sports Center.

The event is geared toward high school juniors and seniors and their parents, however all high school students and parents may attend. Topics covered will include overview of federal and state financial aid programs, local scholarship offerings, student timelines and funding post-secondary education. Christmas bazaar set

Christmas decorations and gift items are being collected for a second time around Christmas bazaar to be held Dec. 8 through 10.

Community members may drop off new or gently used items at the Kenai Senior Center. Call Velda Geller at 283-4329 for more information.

Volunteers sought

The Boys and Girls Clubs in Kenai and Soldotna are looking for community members interested in sharing a craft or hobby with club members. Call 283-2682 or 398-9669.

Arts and craft donations are also needed.

After-school party clubs slated

After-school party clubs will be held in area elementary schools for one hour, once a month. Games, stories, songs, snacks and prizes are planned.

Nikiski pool hours announced

The Nikiski pools winter hours will be Tuesdays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and to 8 p,m,; Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. with the waterslide all day Fridays,

Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. with the waterslide open both days. For more information, call 776-8800.
