FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A Fairbanks woman was struck and killed by a car Wednesday, Alaska State Troopers said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was walking across Chena Ridge Road at about 4:30 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Nancy Holmberg, 58, of Fairbanks.
Troopers said glare from the setting sun made it difficult for Holmberg to see the woman in the road.
Several people stopped to help the woman, who was not breathing and didn't have a pulse immediately after the accident. She was resusitated and was breathing when she was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where she later died.
