Basketball officials to meet at Skyview

The Kenai Peninsula Basketball Officials Association will hold a general membership meeting Monday at 6 p.m. at Skyview High School.

Anyone interested in officiating basketball is welcome to attend. For more information, call Mike at 262-6422.

Council to hold meeting

The North Peninsula Community Council will hold its next regular meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center. The topic will be the Nikiski traffic study grant.

Blood bank closed Monday

The Kenai Peninsula chapter of the Blood Bank of Alaska will be closed Monday.

The office will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Saturday, the blood bank will be at the South Peninsula Hospital.

Zirul to speak at Soldotna chamber weekly meeting

Diana Zirul, fund-raising campaign chair for the United Way, will be the guest speaker at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce meeting Tuesday at noon at the Riverside House.

4-H rendezvous planned

Kenai Peninsula chapters of 4-H will hold a rendezvous Thursday at 6:30 p.m. This event is for anyone interested in becoming a 4-H member.

The rendezvous will be held at several locations around the Kenai Peninsula, including the Kenai Mall, North Star Elementary School, the Sterling Senior Citizens Center, Soldotna Elementary School, Tustumena Elementary School, the Ninilchik Fire Station and the Anchor Point Senior Citizens Center.

Guitar class offered

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula is offering two guitar classes for children between the ages of 8 and 18.

Students who are new to guitar can sign up for the beginning class; while students ages 12 to 18 who know basic guitar can sign up for the intermediate class.

The classes run for six weeks. Cost is $50, and students who are not club members will have to pay an additional $20 membership fee. Intermediate students also have to buy a $20 instruction book. Registration deadline is Thursday.

Employment seminar planned at Job Center

The Alaska Department of Labor is offering a free seminar at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Peninsula Job Center in the Kenai Mall.

Topics covered will include the minimum wage increase, work permit issues and state employment laws.

KPC council to meet

The Kenai Peninsula College Council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in room 201 of the Ward building at the college.

In addition to the regular meeting, the council will discuss proposition C, a $236 million general obligation bond for educational facilities. The council also will discuss the proposed 10 percent tuition increase. For more information, call 260-0336 or 235-1656.

Advisory committee meeting planned Thursday

The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Council will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building. Agenda change requests, trout plans and early-run Kenai kings are on the agenda.
