Program sets goal to raise $10,000 for Nikiski school

Posted: Wednesday, October 06, 2004

Nikiski North Star Elementary School has recently launched its 2004-05 Box Tops for Education fund-raising campaign. This year we "Dare to Dream," and our goal is $10,000.

My name is Jennie Hammond, and I'm the volunteer coordinator for Box Tops for Education. The Box Tops for Education Program offers an easy way to earn cash for our school through an everyday activity: clipping box tops.

We are asking the community of Nikiski, friends, relatives and the business community to help our school by taking the time to clip these box tops. Each box top is worth one dime. There are drop off boxes at M&M Market, Nikiski Senior Citizens Center and Nikiski North Star Elementary.

We are having monthly class contest, and if you would like to sponsor a class just let us know. Not only do we want our students to Dare to Dream, we want our teachers, parents and community to dream big. Think what $10,000-plus could do for any school. Field trips, playground equipment, band program and preschool are just a few ideas.

So please clip and bring in those box tops. We are asking our business community to donate gift certificates, punch cards or items for prize drawings for students and staff. I would like to thank the Nikiski pool and Bear Paw for their support.

If you would like to help with Box Tops I will gladly accept all help and ideas. We also are collecting Campbell's Labels for Education. I hope that everyone that believes and supports education realizes that if we work together as a community, great things can happen at every school.

I look forward to your continued support of Nikiski North Star Elementary Dare to Dream Box Top Challenge.
