Women health screenings available

In celebration of National Nurse-Midwifery Week, free annual exams with pap testing will be offered by appointment and free pregnancy testing will be held all day on a walk-in basis from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at 35670 Kenai Spur Highway, Suite 101A, in Soldotna. Fish and Game advisory schedules meeting

Masquerade ball, auction planned

Planned Parenthood of Alaska Soldotna Center will hold a masquerade ball and auction fund-raiser from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. A trip for two to Hawaii, a barbecue for 50, artwork and area novelties will be some of the featured items for the live and silent auctions.

Appetizers, wines and desserts will be served. The cost is $30 each or $55 for two for advanced tickets or $35 each at the door. All proceeds will benefit program and services of Planned Parenthood in Soldotna. Tickets are available at Planned Parenthood of Alaska Soldotna or River City Books. Alcohol and drug abuse council to meet

The Cook Inlet Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse will hold its annual meeting at 5 p.m. Nov. 15 at 10200 Kenai Spur Highway. The purpose of the meeting is to elect board officers. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call Henry Novak at 283-9891, ext. 204.

KPC seeks council members

Kenai Peninsula College is seeking interested community members to serve on the KPC College Council. The council serves a public advisory role for the college and seeks to have representation from all sectors of the Kenai Peninsula.
