Congratulations to Joy Skjold and Evelyn VanMeter who were elected site council president and secretary Sept. 27. The site council meetings are held monthly (except in December and March) during the school year and are open to the public.

Children's author Joanne Ryder will be at the school from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday conducting writing workshops with intermediate students and storytelling with primary children. Parents are invited to attend these sessions in the school library.

The first Lynx tracks activity of the year will be a roller-skating trip Oct. 20 and 21 in Soldotna. This fall quarter activity may be attended by all students in good standing and is tied to the schoolwide student management program. A written parent permission form and a fee of $3 per student is required to attend each quarterly activity.

The school is seeking parent volunteers to serve as helpers in case of an extreme emergency during school hours. As one component of the emergency action plan, adult assistance from outside the school's work force is necessary. Parents wishing to serve in this capacity are asked to contact the school for more information.

There will be no school Oct. 22, 28 and 29.
