Mr. Gerrald was born in Ottawa, Ill., on June 1, 1966, and moved to Soldotna at the age 14 with his mother. After being awarded the Sohio Petroleum Scholarship for Petroleum Instrumentation, he finished his degree and went to work in the oil fields of Alaska.
“He moved to California in 1996 and was able to set himself apart in a competitive market believed by many to be one of the best in the industry by always going above and beyond expectations. One of his greatest accomplishments included his responsibility in designing and implementing one of the largest SCADA networks in the state of California.” his family said. “Beyond his occupational brilliance, Don had a beautiful, free spirit. He embraced his life with zeal and zest. His let’s do it attitude was contagious to all who knew him and was often impossible to reign in. His acquaintances felt he was their friend, his friends felt he was their family, and his family adored him immensely. His wonderfully witty sense of humor spilled into every aspect of his life. He was happiest on a lake, in his boat entertaining all of those he loved. He loved his God, his family and his life and believed his greatest honor and accomplishment was that of being a father.”
Mr. Gerrald was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Paul and Jessie Mettile; and paternal grandparents, Frank and Georgiana Gerrald.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Gerrald; daughters, Toni McClane, 20, and Grace Gerrald, 9; son, Vincent Gerrald 9 months; father, and stepmother, Donald E. and Sue Gerrald; mother, and stepfather, Sherry L.
