BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) -- Phillips Petroleum Co. has signed a deal with a spill response contractor, the company said Thursday.
The agreement calls for Marine Spill Response Corp. to serve as the primary response contractor for Polar Tankers Inc., the Phillips subsidiary that ships Alaska crude south.
As part of the deal, Phillips joined the Marine Preservation Association, a nonprofit group that provides the money for the Marine Spill Response Corp.
Polar Tankers has five tankers used bringing Alaska crude south.
