The following is a list of the first week of classes and activities of the Soldotna Community School Fall 2002 program. It is to serve as a reminder to registered participants. If you are interested in a class or activity but are not preregistered, call the Soldotna Community School office to check on space availability, location changes and cancellations at 262-6768. Extra brochures are available at the Soldotna and Kenai Public Library and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.
Note: Children are not allowed to attend an adult class or to wait unattended while a parent attends a class.
Wednesday
Custom Rod Building with George McDowell of Mac's Rod Shop. Novice or experienced rod builders welcome. Rod prices vary from $68 to $210. No halibut rods. The class is three sessions: 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9; and 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 16. Participants must be 12 years or older, 10-person maximum, Soldotna Middle School room 20, $20 plus materials.
Tuesday and Thursday
Gentlemen's basketball. This activity is run on a drop-in basis. No preregistration is needed. Pick-up games will be offered on two courts. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks, 18 years or older. Soldotna Middle School gym, $4 per night, 10 night punch card for $35 or 20 night punch card for $65.
Thursday
Celebrate Self-Healing with Nina Donegan or Nina's Window of Health. Learn about your immune system, elasticity vertebrae disk restoration, nervous system stabilization, sleep system restoration, metabolism normalization, intestinal normalization and mobility-joint restoration. Introductory class is free. Additional sessions are scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m., Oct. 14 to 25 in the Soldotna Middle School library. Participants must be 12 years or older, 5-person minimum, 20-person maximum, $70.
Lights on After School. Bring your family and join the After the Bell staff and your neighbors in celebrating after school programs and community education. A free spaghetti dinner will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. After-school programs across the country will be "keeping the lights on" and rallying community support for after school programs. Call the Soldotna Community School office for more information.
Due to an editing error, Adoption Information, sponsored by Soldotna Community School, was omitted from the fall brochure.
Cathy Sturman, adoptive parent and agency representative from World Association for Children and Parents (WACAP), will host an adoption information for single or married individuals interested in adopting. Information about the WACAP agency as well as general information, procedures and steps for adoption with be covered. There also will be a question-and-answer period.
The session will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Soldotna Middle School room 42. Adults only. The class is free.
