Longtime Nikiski resident Joyce C. (Beers) Dillon died Sept. 21, 2010 at Heritage Place. She was 68.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Moose Family Center in Kenai. Please bring your favorite dish for the gathering to follow. If you have any questions please call TJ at 252-9482.
Mrs. Dillon was born April 13, 1942 in Buffalo, N.Y. She moved to Alaska in 1960 and resided in Anchorage and Nikiski.
She worked as a commercial fisherman and was the head baker for the Anchorage School District. She also worked as a waitress, for the Anchorage Times newspaper and worked in school cafeterias. She retired from Anchorage School District Student Nutrition.
Mrs. Dillon was a member of the Moose Family Center and enjoyed baking.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Red Dillon, son, Ed "Bubba" Dillon Sr., and daughter-in-law, Christy.
She is survived by her son W.L. Dillon Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, T.J. and Brian Nelson; grandchildren, Pennie, Bri, Bubba Jr., Catie, Sacha, Sean, Ashley, Jessica, Willie, Robert and D.J.; brother James Beers; sisters, Barb, Flo and Arlene; and extended family members, Thelma Nelson, Todd and Teresa Nelson, Barb and Dennis Riley.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
