Fish and Game committee to meet

The Kenai/Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building on K-Beach Road in Soldotna to discuss proposals to submit to the Board of Game for its Oct. 29 deadline. For more information contact Mike Crawford at 252-2919.

Dog costume contest on deck

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area's fourth annual Strut Your Mutt Howl'oween Dog Costume Contest is scheduled for Oct. 22, 6:30 p.m. at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Dogs must be people and dog friendly and on a leash at all times. Multiple prize categories, door prizes and refreshments provided. For more information contact Tammy at 776-8800.

Leeshore holds awareness workshop

The LeeShore Center will hold its bi-annual Community Awareness Workshop on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Oct. 25 - 29 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at The LeeShore Center. Topics to be covered include domestic violence, sexual assault, the effects of domestic violence on children, the agency's Batterer's Intervention Program and volunteering with shelter clients. The public is invited and may attend a portion or the entire workshop. Continuing education credit may be attained after completion of the workshop and 30 hours of volunteer work with The LeeShore Center. Call 283-9479 for information.

Teen costume contest on tap

Nikiski Community Recreation Center is hosting a Teen Halloween Costume Contest from 8-10 p.m. on Oct. 22, with door prizes, multiple prize categories and refreshments. For more information please contact Tammy at 776-8800.

Black tie affair planned

The Kenai Watershed Forum hosts the Black Tie Crystal Ball, Oct. 9, from 7 p.m. until midnight, at the Peninsula Center Mall, Soldotna. Enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, Live music and dancing and door prizes, all to benefit the Kenai Watershed Forum. Ticket are $250 per person and are limited. Library dinner raffle on the books

Friends of the Kenai Community Library annual dinner-raffle will be Oct. 22 (dinner and drawing) and Oct. 23 (dinner and music and dancing with The Spur Highway Spankers) at the Eagles Aerie #35255, 7 p.m. One $100 ticket includes dinner for two, drawing for $5,000 Grand Prize plus 15 prizes $100-$750. Tickets are being sold at the library and from Board Members.

Swap some gear

The annual Kenai Sport Swap is coming Oct. 23, in the KCHS cafeteria. Drop off your used sports equipment Oct. 22, from 4 - 7:30 p.m., or Oct. 23, from 9 - 10 a.m. Doors open at 10 a.m. for purchase of gear. For more information call 398-8613.

Golfers gather

The Kenai Golf Association will be holding its annual meeting on Oct. 15, 6 p.m. at Paradisos Restaurant, featuring a presentation by the Kenai Golf Course management on the 2010 season and plans for 2011.
