Zirul to speak at Soldotna chamber

Diana Zirul, campaign chair for the United Way fund-raising campaign, will be the guest speaker at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce weekly meeting today at noon at the Riverside House. For more information, call 262-9814.

Election of officers tops agenda

The Cook Inlet Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse will hold its annual meeting at 5 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Kenai office at 10200 Kenai Spur Highway. The purpose of the meeting is to elect the board officers. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend. For more information, call 283-9891, ext. 204.

Optimum Health to present information

Linda Price of Optimum Health will present information on Thermagrams for Thermagraphic imaging of breast tissue. The presentation will be at 2:15 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Kenai Peninsula College commons by the bookstore. For more information, contact the KPC Student Union at 262-0339.

Trout Unlimited meeting planned

The Kenai River Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold its meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Cook Inlet Aqua Culture building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. It is open to the public. All current and future members are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 283-7100 or, after hours, 283-6100.

Internet class available

A beginning Internet class will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Kenai Community Library. This is a free class and will cover basic Internet skills and searching techniques. For more information or to register, call 283-4378.

Center to offer video program

The Kenai Peninsula Community Care Center is offering the innovative video-based program "Active Parenting of Teens." The program will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will meet each Friday for eight weeks starting Oct. 25 at Central Peninsula General Hospital in the Iliamna room. It will include scenarios relevant to teen issues, professionally led group discussion and support, and practical and effective ideas for raising teens in today's world. It also will address effective communication, importance of relationship development between parent and teens, alcohol, substance abuse and sexual behavior.
