There will be a second- and third-grade parent meeting at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Nikiski Elementary library to discuss assessments. All parents of students in these grades are encouraged to attend. Child care will be provided. The goal will be to present the many different assessments that second- and third-grade children will be required to take as a student
in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.
North Star thanks the community for its support of its recent fund-raiser. More than $6,000 was raised for the school.
Title I teacher, Mrs. Pilatti, is running a before-school reading time from 8 to 8:30 a.m. every day.
Mr. Zinck's third-grade class had a successful field trip to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters in Soldotna. Students learned about the role of predators in the ecosystem. Ten parent chaperones were in attendance. Despite the rainy weather, participants had a wonderful hike through the autumn woods while learning the science of plant and animal relationships.
