Dena Pettijohn's fifth- and sixth-graders enjoyed their first monthly "author's day." The students had donuts and listened as each writer read. The writing was to be based on a sketch they had drawn. The students practiced appropriate ways to respond and emphasized not saying things like, "I like your story BUT ..."

The staff thanks all students who did a good deed this past week. Those students received fun bucks. The following students were chosen from the group and received books: Shalynda Daigle, McKenzie Willett, Erice Byerly, Timothy Price, Jason Phipps, Vicky Tachick, Austin Cunningham, Charlie Tuck, Lain Cunningham, Juliee-Anna VanVelzor, Amber Nicholson, Teairah Bunch, Michael Alvey, Katherine Van Velzor, Sarah Kingsley and Austin Jackson.

The PTA will meet at 3:45 p.m. Thursday. The public is invited to attend.

The PTA will hold book bingo night Thursday. Students should be accompanied by a parent. There will be pizza for those who preordered it. Participants are encouraged to bring a can of food as a donation to the food bank.

Students who completed the Splash into Summer Reading program enjoyed a swim party last Friday . The school thanks the PTA, staff and parents who supported this reading program and all the reading activities.
