Historical society to meet

The Soldotna Historical Society will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at River City Books in Soldotna. It is open to the public. For more information, call Barbara Jewell at 262-4157.

Domestic violence workshop set

The LeeShore Center will hold a community awareness workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault Oct. 23 through 27 in its community meeting room. The topics will be how the dynamics of a community’s response to domestic violence and sexual assault impacts victims and community resources available to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Continuing education credit may be applied for through Kenai Peninsula College. For more information and times for workshop, call 283-9479.

Lifeguard class planned

The Nikiski Pool will offer a lifeguard class Oct. 26 through 29 at the Nikiski Pool. Participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class. The fee is $125 per participant and includes the training book. Class size is limited. For more information and class times, call Nigel at 776-8800.

NRA fundraiser takes aim

The Friends of the NRA will host its annual banquet and auction at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. Proceeds will be given to groups to promote firearm safety on the peninsula. Tickets are available at Gator Guns, The Impact Area and by calling 776-7676.

Halloween carnival set to spook

The Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna will hold a Halloween carnival from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31. Bring canned for items to the Buck Buck Buck Store for tickets to be used for various carnival games and events throughout the mall. Triumvirate Theatre will have a haunted house for $3 at the door. Dinner theater set

The Kenai Peninsula State Fair will host a dinner theater performance at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the fair grounds in Ninilchik. Ticket prices are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. For more information on the menu, play or to make a reservation, call 567-3670. Family packages also are available.
