ANCHORAGE (AP) -- President George W. Bush will not stop in Alaska next week on his way to an economic summit.
U.S. Sen. Frank Murkowski, R-Alaska, and the rest of the Alaska delegation had invited Bush to visit Alaska and the North Slope on Oct. 15 and 16 on his way to the annual Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shanghai.
The summit schedule has been significantly reduced in the aftermath of the East Coast terrorist attacks, Murkowski said. The president intends to immediately return to Washington, D.C after the conference.
