Hospice training deadline today

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will conduct training classes Tuesday through Oct. 25 at Soldotna Middle School. The program is sponsored by First Choice Home Health and held through the Soldotna Community Schools program.

The 21 hours of training will cover the philosophy of caring for persons with life-limiting illnesses and support for bereaved individuals. It is open to all community members, as well as those wishing to become hospice volunteers. There is no fee. Preregistration is required by today. For more information, call 262-0453.

Flood workshop planned

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management will sponsor a fall flood workshop from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. today at the Pacific Rim Institute of Safety Management on Marathon Road in Kenai.

The program is designed to inform members of the emergency management community.

MS meeting scheduled

The Soldotna-Kenai Multiple Sclerosis Society will hold its monthly meeting from noon to 2 p.m. today at the assembly chambers in the Borough Building. For more information, call Barb at 262-8395.

Healthy communities meeting set

The Healthy Communities-Healthy People steering committee will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. today at Bridges at 145 Kasilof St. in Soldotna. For more information, call 260-3800.

SoHi PTSA to meet

The Soldotna High School Parent-Teacher-Student Association will hold its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. today in the teachers' lounge at the school. Police Chief John Lucking Jr. will be the guest. All interested parents are invited to attend.

Counseling services to hold board meeting

Central Peninsula Counseling Services will hold its board of directors meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at 506 Lake St. in Kenai. The public is invited to attend.

4-H to hold open house

National 4-H Week continues through Saturday. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Services office on Kalifornsky Beach Road will hold an open house to celebrate area 4-H groups at 6:30 p.m. today.

The open house is an opportunity for community members to explore what 4-H has to offer. Information on existing activities, as well as newly forming mushing and shooting clubs will be available. Adult leadership is needed. For more information, call 262-5824.
