Sauna fundraiser slated
Ninilchik Native Descendants is raffling a banya (sauna). The banya can be seen across from the Ninilchik Fairgrounds. Proceeds from the sale of the tickets will help rebuild log buildings in the village and help with a publication of Ninilchik's history. Only 200 tickets will be sold. Tickets cost $100 each. Hospice training scheduled
Hospice of the Central Peninsula will hold training classes from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 16, 17, 19, 23 and 24 and from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 28. It is open to the public. For more information, call 262-0453.
NRA fundraiser takes aim
The Friends of the NRA will host its annual banquet and auction at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. Proceeds will be given to groups to promote firearm safety on the peninsula.

Lifeguard class planned
The Nikiski Pool will offer a lifeguard class Oct. 26 through 29 at the Nikiski Pool. Participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class. The fee is $125 per participant and includes the training book. Class size is limited.

Halloween carnival set
The Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna will hold a Halloween carnival from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31. Bring canned for items to the Buck Buck Buck Store for tickets to be used for various carnival games and events throughout the mall. Triumvirate Theatre will have a haunted house for $3 at the door.

Dinner theater set
The Kenai Peninsula State Fair will host a dinner theater performance at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the fair grounds in Ninilchik. Ticket prices are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
