ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man was arrested in Wasilla and charged with multiple crimes after he allegedly kidnapped a 16-year-old girl at knifepoint, Anchorage police said.
Pedro Julio Disla, 19, was arrested Saturday after trying to leave a restaurant in a mall without paying, police said Monday. He was detained by the restaurant owner until police arrived.
Disla is suspected of kidnapping the girl Thursday night from the parking lot of the Northway Mall in Anchorage after she got off work. The girl told police she was walking to her car when a man came up behind her, stuck a knife in her back and forced her to drive him in her car.
She said the man told her where to drive, touched her breast as they drove to Centennial Park, slapped her and then stole her car.
A Wasilla police officer spotted the car on Friday, but when police attempted to stop it, the driver sped off and after driving into a ditch fled on foot. Police dogs were unable to find him.
Disla was charged with kidnapping, robbery, assault, sexual assault, vehicle theft and several motor vehicle violations. He was being held in the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $100,000 bail.
