Driver safety class offered

An eight-hour driver safety course offered through AARP will be held Friday and Saturday. The class fee is $10 and covers the cost of materials. Participants may qualify to have a ticket dismissed and have their auto insurance reduced. For more information and class location, call Vivian at 260-3966.

Fund-raiser dinner, auction planned

The ninth annual Thelma McConnell scholarship fund dinner and auction will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Agrium Meeting Facility on North Miller Loop. The outcry, silent and Chinese auctions will begin at 7 p.m. The fee is $10 per person. Children 6 and under are $5. For more information, call 776-7654.

Soldotna chamber to host fund-raiser

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its ninth annual pie auction Saturday. Part of the proceeds are used to support its high school scholarship fund. This year's theme includes an authentic luau dinner, festive atmosphere, auction and a grand prize trip for two to Hawaii.

Forty-five pies baked by area gourmets will be auctioned off, with each pie having a prize attached to it. Tables for 10 and individual tickets are available. Seating is limited. For more information or to reserve a seat, call Erica at 262-9814.

Land trust to hold benefit dinner

The Kachemak Heritage Land Trust will hold a benefit dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Homestead Restaurant. Dinner will include a choice from a select Homestead menu. Masonic lodge to hold halibut fry

The Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association will hold a board of directors meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the CIAA building at 40610 Kalifornsky Beach Road. The public is invited.
