Guitar lessons offered

The Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula is offering guitar lessons from 6:20 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays beginning this Monday at the club. Participants must be between the ages of 9 and 18. Dustin Aaronson will instruct. The cost is $55 for six classes, plus the 2004 membership dues of $20 per child. The registration deadline is Monday or until the 15-student class limit is met. There is a $10 late registration fee after Monday. For more information, call 283-2682.

Fish and Game advisory to meet

Childbirth film offered

There will be a free film showing and class in the Bradley method of childbirth at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Soldotna. For more information and the location, call Olga at 262-9291.

Comprehensive plan update meetings set

The Kenai Peninsula Borough will hold public meetings to present its draft update of the 2005 comprehensive plan. The meetings are scheduled for the following locations:

Tustumena -- From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Tustumena Elementary School multipurpose room, Mile 110 of the Sterling Highway.

Cooper Landing -- Begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cooper Landing Community Hall on Bean Creek Road. This meeting will be in conjunction with the Cooper Landing Advisory Planning Commission meeting.

Sterling -- From 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Sterling Elementary School cafeteria, Mile 83.5 of the Sterling Highway.

Soldotna -- From 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly Chambers, 144 N. Binkley St. in Soldotna.

Nikiski -- From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Nikiski Middle-Senior High School library on Old Nikiski Beach Road.

The comprehensive plan team will give a presentation about the planning process and key findings of the plan, followed by an open house that will feature discussion about issues, goals, objectives and plan implementation actions. Meeting participants will have an opportunity to ask questions, comment and complete written questionnaires on the plan.

Hospice training set

Hospice of the Central Peninsula and 1st Choice Home Health Care will offer hospice volunteer training at the Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on Oct. 18, 19, 21, 25 and 26 from 6 to 9 p.m.; and Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Social Security Administration representatives will be on the Kenai Peninsula from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19 at Seward Council Chambers; from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at Kenai City Hall; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Homer Senior Citizens Center.
