Depression screening available

Free depression screenings will be offered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kenai Peninsula College. Depression screenings are anonymous. For more information, call 714-4500.

Public health plans one-day closure

Kenai Public health will be closed Oct. 18. It will reopen at 8 a.m. Oct. 19. For more information, call 335-3400.

MOPS to meet

Mothers of preschoolers will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 at Kenai New Life Assembly of God Church. Chapter introduction will be the topic. Snack, coffee and a craft activity are planned.

Library seeks volunteers

The Soldotna Public Library is seeking volunteers for its night watch program held from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and from 5 to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Library skills are not necessary. For more information, call 262-4227.

Halloween carnival set for fun

Our Lady of Perpetual Help will host a community Halloween carnival from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26 and from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 27. Games, activities and refreshments will take place in the old Catholic Church at 222 W. Redoubt in Soldotna.

The church also will host an Octoberfest bingo for quilts from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26. Barbecue pork sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw, assorted pies and desserts and coffee and hot cider will be served. For more information, call 262-7801.
