Habitat for Humanity will hold a warehouse surplus sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the mini-storage units on the Kenai Spur Highway, near Spenard Builders and Wildwood Drive. Toilets, carper pieces, doors, windows, flooring materials, lighting and miscellaneous household supplies.
4-H Fun Day will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Universtiy of Alaska Fairbanks, Cooperative Extension Service, Kenai Peninsula District office on Kalifornsky Beach Road, beneath the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Area breastfeeding moms are invited to participate in the 2008 Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Funkey Monkey coffee shop in the C Plaza in Kenai.
The event is part of a worldwide challenge in an effort to celebrate breastfeeding and demonstrate promotion, protection and support for breastfeeding women and their families.
The event is a challenge for which geographic area (province, state or territory) has the most breastfeeding babies, as a percentage of the birthrate, "latched on" at 11 a.m. local time.

A free low vision screening will be Thursday.
The screening is provided by the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Anchorage and the local Lions Clubs. A certified Low Vision Therapist will doing the screening. It is open to all ages and income levels with permanent vision impairments.

Howl'oween party planned
The Nikiski Community Rec Center is holding a Howl'oween Dog Costume Contest Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30 pm. There will be multiple prize catagories. Dogs must be both people and dog FRIENDLY and on a leash at all times. Door prizes - doggie cake walk and refreshments. $5 entry fee per dog.
