Library says 'thanks'

Posted: Sunday, October 10, 2010

On behalf of the Soldotna Public Library, I'd like to thank all the people and organizations that helped to get out information on the City of Soldotna's recent bond proposition supporting the expansion of our library.

The library's open house held on Saturday, Oct. 2, was a huge success due to the efforts of many, dedicated and wonderful, community-minded people. Thank you to ConocoPhillips for loan of the tent (extremely appreciated on that rainy day) and grill, Safeway for the hot dogs, the Wonder bread store for the buns, and McDonalds for the orange drink.

I'd like to thank board members and Friends of the Joyce K. Carver Memorial Library: Kathy Cox (President), Elaine Woodburn (Vice-President), Jeanette Pedginski (Secretary), M.P. King, Kathy Wartinbee, Soldotna Mayor Peter Micciche and his wife Erin, Rosie Reeder (Kids Book Group coordinator), the Balloon Man, Councilman Ed Sleater, Library Board members: Erin Micciche, Sharen Sleater and Marge Hays, Library Staff, Book Sale volunteers: Patricia Burdick, Mary McCown, Norma Cooper, Sharen Sleater, and volunteers: Tony Watson and Joe Pedginski.

And finally, thank you to the voters in Soldotna for their continued support of their library.

Terri Burdick
