Volunteer opportunity available

The LeeShore Center is currently looking for individuals who can help us keep our clothes donation closet in good order. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 283-9479 for information.

Holiday donations needed

Christmas decorations and gift items are now being collected for a "2nd Time Around Christmas Bazaar" to be held Dec. 8 - 10. Drop off new or "gently used" items at the Kenai Senior Center. Contact Velda Geller at 283-4329 for questions and information.

GED testing available at KPC

For people who have started to earn a GED, but not finished, or those who never started, but want to, the GED test will be changing in the future, and those who have not completed testing will lose their previous test scores. To get started or complete a GED, call the Kenai Peninsula College Kenai River Campus at 262-0327.

Help for assistance needs

The Independent Living Center presents Paula Jacobson, an Anchorage attorney specializing in Social Security disability, health, and medical insurance; and Amrit Khalsa, an Anchorage attorney specializing in Medicaid issues, including Medicaid qualifying trusts (Millers Trusts) and special needs trusts; at the Hope Community Resources, 47202 Princeton Ave., Soldotna, Thursday, Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to noon. Following the presentation, individual appointments will be available at the Independent Living Center from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information or to schedule an individual appointment with either presenter, contact Lori Engler at the Independent Living Center, 262-6333.

Fish and Game advisory committees to meet

The Central Peninsula Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Ninilchik School in order to finalize proposals for the Board of Game Southcentral region deadline, and prepare comments for the Lower Cook Inlet Board of Fisheries proposals. The Kenai/Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building on Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna to complete proposals for the Board of Game for its Oct. 29 deadline, if necessary, and begin preparing comments for the Board of Fisheries Lower Cook Inlet proposals.
