Service planned today to remember victims

A half-hour prayer service will be held at noon today at the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant, 11167 Frontage Road in Kenai, to remember the victims of the Sept. 11 tragedy and to offer prayer for the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.

Pastors taking part in the service include Jon Walters of the Church of the New Covenant, John Henry of North Star United Methodist Church in Nikiski and Rick Cupp of Kenai Fellowship Church of Christ in Kenai.

Allergy support group to meet

The Peninsula Allergy Network, a newly formed support group, will meet today at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna at 6:30 p.m. All interested persons are encouraged to come and participate. The primary objective is to provide an allergy resource information exchange.

Kasilof history group meets tonight

The Kasilof Regional Historical Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. today at the McLane Center at Mile 0.5 Kalifornsky Beach Road. The program will be on the historic cabins of the area. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 262-2439.

Public health nurse to go to Ninilchik clinic

Fish and Game Advisory Committee to meet

The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road. This is an important meeting concerning fish and game proposals and future regulations.

Nikiski dinner, auction to benefit scholarship fund

The seventh annual Thelma McConnell Scholarship Fund Dinner and Auction will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Agrium Meeting Facility on North Miller Loop in Nikiski. Dinner will be served, followed by an auction at 7 p.m. Nelson Amen's Dixie Land Band will provide music.

This is the only fund-raiser for the scholarship fund; participants' generosity will determine how many scholarships can be awarded.

Tickets are $7 per person.

The Nikiski Senior Center is planning its annual fall bazaar and bake sale Nov. 1-3.
