Bedwell to share personal testimony

Ruthie Bedwell will share her personal testimony and how it pertains to Biblical prophecy at Soldotna Junior High School, from 7 to 9 p.m., this evening. All are welcome, especially parents and grandparents.

Rummage sale to raise library funds

The Ministry of Mothers Sharing group at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Soldotna is conducting a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the O'Neill Hall at the church at 222 W. Redoubt Ave.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to start a library of reading materials for church youth, particularly fourth- through sixth-graders. For more information, call 262-4570.

National speaker to address groups

Don Argue, president of Northwest College in Kirkland, Wash., will speak at Peninsula Christian Center at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, and again at 6 p.m. Sunday at New Life Assembly of God in Kenai.

Meetings are also scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Peninsula Christian Center. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Argue is former president of the National Evangelical Association, and served on the Human Rights Council under former Secretary of State Madeline Albright. He has been counselor to three U.S. presidents. He and his wife, Pat, are here as featured guests of the 2002 Peninsula Ministers Institute.

The Christian center is located in Soldotna behind the Salvation Army store on the Kenai Spur Highway. Kenai New Life Assembly of God is on Princess Street across Kenai Spur Highway from the Challenger Learning Center. Call 262-7416 for more information.

Native outreach fellowship to meet

The North Wind Native Fellowship, an inter-denominational Native outreach, meets at 7 p.m. Friday at Peninsula Grace Brethren, 44175 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Soldotna. Meetings are held every other Friday. Every fourth gathering is a Native potluck.

A children's ministry is provided for children in fourth grade and under. For more information, contact Van or Vide Van Velzor at 260-3293.

Clothing ministry open

The New 2 You clothing ministry of the First Baptist Church of Soldotna is open from 1 to 3 p.m. every first and third Saturday of the month. To participate in the ministry, call Joy at 262-0641.

Bible study groups meeting

Precept Bible Study is currently studying Hebrews on Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Soldotna Bible Chapel library. Precept Bible Study will also study Hebrews on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Kasilof Community Church. For more information, call 283-9235.

Religious poems sought

A $1,000 grand prize is being offered in a special religious poetry contest sponsored by the New Jersey Rainbow Poets, free to anyone who has ever written a poem. Fifty prizes totaling almost $5,000 will be awarded. The deadline for entering is Oct. 31.

Writers sought for faith anthology

Writers from Alaska are invited to share their own experiences of the power of prayer and faith in an anthology to be published in the latter half of 2003.

The anthology, "A Matter Of Faith," is being compiled by Arrowhead Publishing to provide examples of the positive power of prayer. Writers are invited to submit essays of up to 750 words that share their own experiences of how their faith has helped them meet major challenges in the journey through life. Anyone whose work is selected will share in the royalties from book sales.
