Labor council plans meeting

The Kenai Peninsula Central Labor Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the OCAW-Pace building at the corner of Sandy Lane and the Kenai Spur Highway at Mile 15.5. For more information, call Blake Johnson at 776-5212.

Recycling group focuses on education

Re-Group, a recycling education group will meet a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the commons at Kenai Peninsula College. It is open to anyone interested in recycling. The group is seeking help for the Arctic Winter Games. For more information, call Jan at 262-5098.

Multiple sclerosis group shows support

Christmas boutique scheduled

The 26th annual original Christmas boutique will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the center at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. For more information, call 283-7565.

KDLL membership drive slated

KDLL public radio will hold its annual on-air membership drive Saturday through Oct. 21. It is seeking volunteers to help answer phones. Shifts are available to fit most schedules. Meals will be provided by area restaurants. For more information or to volunteer, call 283-8433.

Scholarship fund-raiser planned

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will host its 11th annual Thelma McConnell Scholarship dinner, auction fund-raiser at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Nikiski Recreation Community Center. Auctions will begin at 7 p.m. A prime rib dinner, out cry, silent and Chinese auctions are planned. The cost of admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children age 10 and under.

Social Security reps plan visit

Social Security Administration representatives will be on the Kenai Peninsula from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 18 at Seward City Hall; from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at Kenai City Hall; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Homer Senior Citizens Center. Peninsula women's group to 'take a break'

The Peninsula Take A Break will host a dessert night from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20 at Solid Rock Conference Center at Mile 90.5 on the Sterling Highway. Special guests are Greg Daniels of the Kenai Peninsula Photographers Guild and Steve Delisio, retired attorney and outdoorsman. The cost is $6 and includes child care.
