ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The state Department of Law has designed a Web site offering consumer protection information for Alaska residents.
Background is provided on a number of issues, from dealing with mail order companies to buying used cars and protecting against telephone- and Internet fraud.
Consumers can learn whether a particular telemarketer or charitable organization is registered with the Attorney General's office, as state law requires.
Complaint forms also are available for downloading.
''This online resource allows us to reach out to help Alaskans, to make the best use of our limited consumer protection resources to share information from the state, the federal government and many other consumer organizations,'' Attorney General Bruce Botelho said in a prepared statement.
