Soldotna resident Alice Jeanne Byerly died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Central Peninsula General Hospital. She was 81.
A service will be held in New Carlisle, Ohio, at a later date. Her ashes will be buried in the family plot in the New Carlisle Cemetery.
Ms. Byerly was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Clark County, Ohio. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1940. In 1952, she began working at Robbins and Meyers Inc. She continued working there until retiring in 1982.
She loved flowers, gardening and canning summer's bounty. She also enjoyed reading and listening to Lawrence Welk.
"Alice was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed," her family said.
Ms. Byerly was preceded in death by her sister, Joann Harris; parents, Robert and Frances Harris; and a brother, Roger Harris.
She is survived by her brothers, Robert F. Harris of Springfield, Ohio, and Richard G. Harris of Hartford, Conn.; daughter, Kaye Hensler and her husband, Robert, of Soldotna; grandson, Jeff Doyle and his wife, Teresa, of Anchorage; granddaughters, Melanie Luhn and her husband, Wade of Williamstown, Mass., and Jody Doyle of Nikiski; great-grandchildren, Brendon and Anna Doyle of Anchorage, Avanell and Elena Luhn of Williamstown and Chelsa and Connor Paulk of Nikiski.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
