Women's meeting held Monday

Kenai Women's Aglow will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Salvation Army Chapel, 201 N. Forest Drive in Kenai. All women are invited to attend. Patti Szczesny, the new Kenai Women's Aglow president, will speak. For more information, call Dea at 776-7527.

Soldotna chamber to meet

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Tuesday at the Riverside House. The featured speakers will be Katy Crane and Jill Rife from Central Peninsula General Hospital. Their topic will be the 10,000 step walking program. For more information, call Shanon at 262-9814.

Fish and Game advisory committee to meet

The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting of the season at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Kenai River Center. Representatives of the Fish and Game commercial fishing, sport fishing, game and parks division will give overviews of the past season's issues. Election procedures and guide numbers also will be discussed. The public is invited to attend.

Dog mushing club forming

The Peninsula Sled Dog Association in conjunction with 4-H are forming a dog mushing club. Dog care, handling, racing, skijoring and sled driving are some of the aspects of mushing that will be covered. For more information, call 283-3954.

Council on drug abuse to meet

The Cook Inlet Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse will hold its annual meeting at 5 p.m. Oct. 20 at its office at 10200 Kenai Spur Highway. Officers will be elected. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call Henry at 283-9891.

Borough schedules meetings for plan update

The Kenai Peninsula Borough will hold a series of public meetings to identify local and boroughwide issues that should be addressed in its updated comprehensive plan. Meetings are scheduled for Oct. 20 in the council chambers at Kenai City Hall, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Homer City Hall council chambers and from 6:30 to 8:30 Oct. 22 at the Anchor Point Senior Citizens Center. Genealogical society plans workshop

The Totem Tracers Genealogical Society and the Soldotna Family History Center will present a class titled "Organizing Your Research" at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Family History Center in Soldotna.

Social Security rep to visit peninsula

Social Security Administration representatives will be on the peninsula at the following locations and times: in Seward from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 21 at the council chambers; in Kenai from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at Kenai City Hall; and in Homer from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at the senior citizens center.
