ANCHORAGE (AP) — Two teenagers have been charged in connection with the shooting death of 16-year old Desmond Brooks, who died early Monday after he was shot at a party in an East Anchorage trailer home, Anchorage police said.

Brandon Hill, 17, was charged with second-degree murder and underage drinking. Steven Peldo Jr., 19, was charged with third-degree misconduct involving a weapon, evidence tampering and underage drinking.

The teenagers were drinking late Sunday night at Peldo's mobile home in Mayflower Circle Park, according to Roy Johnson, 20, who said he was one of about six people there.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, Peldo pulled out a Glock .45-caliber pistol to see if Johnson wanted to buy it, Johnson told the Anchorage Daily News. Peldo removed the ammunition clip, and the group started examining the gun, he said. When Hill held it, he put the clip back in, Johnson said.

Brooks was shot in the head and died instantly, police said.

The two were arraigned Monday. Hill was charged as an adult. He could face 99 years if convicted.
